Produced in association with the United Nations Fiftieth Anniversary Secretariat, A Vision of Hope examines the many facets of the United Nations’ operations, focusing on the vital role played by the organization in everyday life.
This looks at streamlining the General Assembly, establishing a separate International Criminal Court, recommending closer collaboration between the United Nations and NGOs in conflict resolution situations, developing early warning systems for humanitarian crises, creating a world central bank, integrating sustainable development management into economic and social development programs, introducing business-like management principles and practices into the United Nations and developing new and innovative approaches in the relationship between the United Nations and the business community.

This fully illustrated and comprehensive resource book covers the work of the many agencies and organizations of the United Nations system in the 50th anniversary year of the world body. In four sections and sixteen chapters, the 320-page volume reviews the milestones and successes of the past 50 years and takes a look at the future objectives of the United Nations. In particular, the book examines the peace process, people-centred development and economic perspectives, and covers subjects such as human rights, emergency aid and the environment. A Vision of Hope is available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Japanese, Russian and Spanish.
Human Rights - The New Consensus
Apart from providing assistance to refugees in countries of asylum and dealing with major refugee emergencies, one of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ main responsibilities is to provide long-term solutions for their plight.
Regency Foundation Networx, in association with UNCHR, has produced Human Rights – the new consensus which contains a wide range of contemporary material on human rights, democracy, development and peace. The book, which incorporates the full texts of 14 declarations and international human rights standards and brings together the positions of both governments and grassroots activists, has been described as one of the most useful tools available to human rights workers, particularly those in the developing world.

Regency Foundation Networx is to be congratulated on the publication. It is excellent, for it gathers together all the main outputs from UNCED that would otherwise be forgotten. The fact that it does not dwell on the climate convention and the biodiversity convention but rather on Agenda 21 and the Rio Declaration is the key to its value. You have in one attractive package, given an excellent summarised version and an index. This is a unique effort because you have done it in a form that reaches the public rather than the small, knowing community that was involved in the UNCED process.
Earth Summit '92
In June 1992, the United Nations convened its Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro. It was the largest United Nations conference ever held.
Produced in association with the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, Earth Summit ’92 draws together the main concerns of the event. Divided into four sections covering social and economic dimensions, conservation and management of resources for development, strengthening the role of major groups and means of implementation, each of the 40 chapters incorporates guidelines on the basis for action, objectives, activities and financing and cost evaluation. The fully illustrated book also contains the 27 principles of the Rio Declaration and Agenda 21 – the Programme of action for sustainable development which was agreed upon by governments in Rio.

The United Nations Environment Programme provides leadership and encourages partnerships in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing and enabling nations and people to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.
Business and industry have a key role to play in bringing about sustainable development. Sustainable Business, produced in association with UNEP, reviews existing methods of pollution control and reduction, resource and energy conservation, and cleaner production techniques including solar and wind power and biotechnology. It discusses the reasons behind the move towards greater use of environmentally sound technologies including legislation, financial pressures and competitiveness and contains case studies of the successful applications of such technologies whilst debating the key issues of financing, technology transfer and assessment.

Tanti Popoli, Una Terra (Many People, One Planet)
The World Food Programme’s objective is to eradicate hunger worldwide. It is the largest international food aid organization in the world benefiting over 50 million people in more than 90 countries.
Produced in association with the World Food Programme and in conjunction with the Italian Ministry of Education, Tanti Popoli, Una Terra is an educational resource programme aimed at 11 to 14-year-old Italian students.
Supplied in a polypropylene presentation case, the Programme contains 40 A4 full colour, durable, laminated Data Cards, a video and a teacher’s manual. The material has been designed by senior Italian teachers to complement the curriculum, educate young people about the United Nations and the World Food Programme, and encourage students to reflect on their environment and the world in which they live. The video follows a day in the life of a 14-year-old African girl and focuses on the work of the WFP around the world.

Written by world experts in the many applications of information and communication technologies; each section defines and describes applications, summarises relevant technologies, details country projects examples, profiles case studies, outlines working models, highlights examples of best practices, provides a general indication of costs or cost components and suggests how projects can be financed.
It shows how telecoms, wireless comms, satcoms, broadcasting and multimedia can provide the momentum to get development underway in many fields, reaching audiences that would not normally receive information on telecommunications as well as information and communication technologies. It also aims to encourage greater communication between ministries, regional municipal authorities, representative groups and the private sector.

The Director of UNEP’s Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean was extended an invitation by Regency Foundation Networx to participate as a speaker on the subject entitled "The Motor Car, the Environment and Mexico City" at a seminar held during AutoExpo, an international automobile exhibition in Mexico City. The seminar focused on the effects of motor vehicles on the environment and was linked via the Internet using video conferencing technology to allow on and offsite experts to share their knowledge with online participants worldwide. The seminar is one of a series of international seminars in the fields of health, agriculture, education, business, the environment, governance and rural development organised as part of a global initiative to highlight the benefits of new information and communication technologies in emerging market countries.
